Kyrgyzstan is preparing to resume international flights that have been suspended since May 20 due to the novel coronavirus, Kyrgyz prime minister Kubatbek Boronov said.
According to Boronov, the country's headquarters for the fight against coronavirus has decided to resume international flights.
Noting that stability has been observed in the prevalence of COVID-19 cases over the past week, but it is too early to say about a favorable situation, the PM said.
"If the epidemiological situation is stable in the country, we will be able to start international flights. At first, our flights will resume for Russia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The foreign ministry has started work [in this regard]," Anadolu Agency cited him as saying.
Boronov said the situation in the fight against the coronavirus is problematic in Issyk-Kul and Jalal-Abad regions in the country and the government is making efforts to improve the situation.
Since March 18, when the first case of the virus was reported in the country, a total of 33,844 people have tested positive, with 1,329 deaths and 22,296 recoveries.
